A Note from our Chair

Republicans of Waseca County

As most of you are aware, February 27th was Minnesota caucus night where delegates and alternate delegates are elected in each precinct to then attend the county convention. As it turned out, attendance was low for most of the state for both parties. The weather may have had something to do with the turnout.

Our county convention was yesterday, March 16th. While attendance there was also low, we filled our delegate delegation to both the state and district conventions. We also filled at least half of our alternate delegate delegation to both those conventions.

We heard from every candidate running for the open house seats that represent us in St. Paul in the next session. Further, we heard from Senator John Jasinski, CD1 chair Aaron Farris, and a representative of Congressman Finstad’s office.

We passed resolutions that will now be submitted to the district convention for their consideration to move on to the state convention.

We heard from our treasurer that our fundraising efforts have been very successful so far this year. We know funds will be required to do the things needed to ensure positive election results this year.

Last year the county convention delegation elected the county committee who tends to our business during the year. This committee has been working tirelessly to grow and strengthen the Republican party in our county.
